Find a clear sky view
The terminal needs a broad, unobstructed view of the sky. Trees, buildings and rooflines can interrupt the signal, so the position is assessed before mounting.
WiFiSetup provides professional Starlink installation across the UK for rural homes, farms, businesses, holiday accommodation, caravan parks and mobile users.
We can assess the location, check for a clear view of the sky, securely mount the Starlink dish, route cabling neatly and configure the router and wider WiFi network.
We are based in North Wales and regularly serve remote properties, while accepting suitable installation work throughout the United Kingdom.
We plan and install Starlink systems for rural homes, farms, businesses, holiday accommodation, caravans and motorhomes throughout the UK—then test the connection and help make the WiFi useful where you actually need it.
Starlink is a satellite internet service operated by SpaceX. Instead of relying on a fibre or copper line reaching the property, a compact user terminal communicates with a network of satellites moving across the sky. Because those satellites orbit much closer to Earth than traditional satellite systems, Starlink can provide a more responsive connection suitable for everyday internet use.
The important difference is distance. Starlink satellites operate hundreds of kilometres above Earth, while traditional geostationary internet satellites are approximately 35,786 km above the equator. The shorter journey helps reduce delay and supports faster, more responsive internet connectivity.
Lower latency, higher practical speeds and a compact electronically steered terminal make everyday uses such as video calls, streaming, cloud services and remote working more practical.
The much longer signal journey created very high latency. Consumer services were commonly slower, used larger fixed directional dishes and were often sold with restrictive data allowances because satellite capacity was limited.
Equipment, speeds, prices and usage policies vary by provider and package. This comparison describes the typical difference between modern low-Earth-orbit connectivity and earlier consumer geostationary services.

The Starlink terminal communicates with satellites overhead and automatically changes between them as they travel across the sky.
A protected cable route carries the connection to the Starlink router or suitable network equipment inside the property.
The connection is then distributed over WiFi or Ethernet and can be integrated with a wider network or used as dual-WAN backup.
Dependable everyday internet for video calls, streaming, smart devices and working from home where conventional fixed-line internet is limited.
A practical connection for offices, workshops, outbuildings, payment systems and wider site networking where required.
Permanent or removable setups for touring vehicles, seasonal pitches, lodges, holiday lets and guest connectivity.

At this Carlisle golf course, Starlink was installed as a backup internet connection and integrated with a dual-WAN router. The existing fibre line remains the primary connection; if it fails, the router can switch internet traffic to Starlink and help the business stay connected.
Starlink needs a clear view of the sky, a secure position and a sensible cable route. The router also needs to be placed and configured so the connection reaches the rooms, buildings or pitches that matter.
The right equipment depends on whether the connection will stay at one property, move between locations or provide resilience when another internet service fails. We help plan the installation around the way it will actually be used.
A permanent installation for rural homes, farms, offices, holiday accommodation and other fixed sites. We plan the sky view, mounting position, cable route and indoor connectivity as one complete job.
A compact option for caravans, motorhomes, temporary workplaces, events and remote use. We can advise on secure removable mounting, power, safe cable routing and practical WiFi coverage.
Starlink can support continuity when a fibre or fixed-line service fails. Where suitable, it can be integrated with a dual-WAN router as a secondary connection rather than the everyday primary service.
Starlink lists Mini at approximately 20–40W average use. Its 12–48V DC input and optional 100W USB-C PD accessory cable can make it easier to plan around suitable vehicle, battery or off-grid power systems.
The current Standard is listed at approximately 75–100W average, while Standard Actuated is around 50–75W. Consumption varies with temperature, location, network use and snow-melt operation.
Many Starlink kits can connect to a third-party router, but the required power supply, Ethernet connection and bypass arrangement depend on the exact terminal generation.
Important: although power is carried to some Starlink terminals over their data cable, this is not a promise of compatibility with an ordinary PoE switch, injector or PoE-enabled router. Voltage, current, wiring and connectors are model-specific. We identify the exact kit and use a suitable Starlink or purpose-designed power arrangement before connecting third-party networking equipment.

A clear sky view is fundamental. Trees, chimneys, rooflines, nearby buildings and steep terrain can interrupt the connection, so the easiest mounting point is not always the best one.
A few accurate details allow us to assess the likely work before arranging a visit. You do not need to know the technical answer—we use the information to identify the sensible next step.
We regularly work with the realities of remote properties, exposed locations, hills, forests, farms and holiday sites. Suitable installation projects are considered across Wales, England, Scotland and the wider United Kingdom, with travel and feasibility confirmed during quotation.
Yes. Suitable projects are considered throughout the UK. Travel, access and the installation scope are confirmed before quotation.
Yes. Rural homes, farms and outbuildings are a core part of the service, subject to a suitable view of the sky and safe access.
Yes. We can discuss permanent or removable approaches for touring vehicles, seasonal pitches and mobile working.
Yes. We can assess whether the Starlink router is enough and recommend options for rooms, buildings or outdoor areas needing better coverage.
No. Contact us before ordering if you want advice on suitability, equipment and the proposed installation.
No installer can guarantee a fixed Starlink speed. Performance varies with the service, location, obstructions, network demand and WiFi conditions.
